Virtual Sessions FAQ:
How long are the individual virtual physical therapy sessions?
Free check-in and orientation for options to suit you: 10-15 minutes (usually by telephone.)

Do I need a new referral from my medical provider?
If you have been seen in 2020, you would not be likely to need an additional prescription, unless you know it has ended. If you were last seen in 2019, the therapist may see your through Direct Access by sending you additional paperwork, or you can ask your medical provider to fax a new referral.
If you are new to Passages PT, a referral can be faxed to (434) 979-0747 and we can receive it electronically. You may also choose to start PT through Direct Access. You can email us at email@example.com if you have any question.
If I am a current patient at Passages PT, how can I schedule an appointment for a virtual session?
If you have ever been seen at Passages PT, you are automatically registered in our Client Portal. You can access self-scheduling through the Green Client Portal button near the top of the web page. You are also welcome to call us and leave a voice mail, with good times to reach you.
I am a new patient that would like to talk with a therapist, to schedule an appointment and receive the intake paperwork.
We would be happy to talk with you! You have the option to reach us through the Green Client Portal button near the top of the web page. We can also be reached through our voicemail system at (434) 979-5559. Please let us know best times and days to reach you, along with preferred email address and any phone numbers.
After I schedule, what happens next?
You will be sent emails through our secure EMR electronic medical record host, “HENO.io”. One will contain a link to our telehealth platform, called “DOXY.me”. There will be several intake forms through the link inside that email.
An appointment reminder email will come within 48 hours of your scheduled session. The email contains a link to connect to the DOXY. Follow all of the steps to test your camera and audio for every session, even if you already participate in other virtual calls. Laptops, computers and tablets are easiest, with larger screens. Smartphones that have cameras for calls will also work.
*Please test your connections for Doxy.me shortly after you receive your email link for the appointment. That gives you time to adjust your settings and avoid last minute frustrations. Here is a link for how to test your device:
About In-Office Visits:
What changes have been made to the office for physical distancing, disinfecting services and personal hygiene?
All patients and staff are to follow physical distancing during treatment and training, and to wear masks at all times. Patients will be supplied a mask if lacking one, or if your therapist requests to use a new one. Therapists will use eye goggles or face shield in addition to masks as appropriate, including with patients who have chronic coughs for any reason, such as allergies. Therapists and any staff or others present also follow the pre-screening on each clinic day. The timing of our clients is spaced with 15 min between appointments to allow for cleaning.
We have hospital grade sanitizing wipes and spray sanitizer for cleaning our work surfaces, before and after treatments. Linens have been replaced with disposables for use at this time. Wall mounted hand sanitizers are inside our entrance and within treatment areas. Our clinic’s main sink and soap dispensor have been converted to touchless.
Before the appointment:
Patients are provided with special text numbers to let the therapist know when you have arrived, then wait in your car or outside. The therapist will reply by text when she is ready to come open the door for you to enter the clinic.
Patient may only come to the clinic with a visitor if it is medically necessary or if the patient is a minor.
All visitors will be screened in the same way as are patients.
Pre-visit screening, before entering clinic:
Your therapist will check your temperature with a touchless screening tool. You will be asked the following questions:
Have you had any of the following symptoms in the last 14 days?
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
New loss of taste or smell
Less common symptoms: gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Other possible symptoms from CDC website?
Have you been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID-19 within the last 14 days?
If “yes,” since exposure, have you been tested for COVID-19?
Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19?
If “yes,” have you been cleared of it since testing positive?
If answered “yes” to any of the above:
Have you discussed these symptoms with your physician?
*If you have any of these symptoms, you should change to a virtual consult for further instruction and possible home program update.
PLEASE NOTE THAT CLINIC PROCEDURES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BEFORE UPDATES ARE POSTED TO OUR WEBSITE.
We appreciate your feedback and patience, and look forward to seeing you!
