Personalized
Treatment Programs
-
Manual
therapy and teaching self-massage can be useful for
calming muscles and gently stretching soft tissue.
This can be useful in early adulthood, post partum,
after surgical procedures, and after breast and pelvic
cancer treatment. Mobilization, myofascial release
(MFR), scar mobilization, strain-counter strain (SCS),
and visceral mobilization are techniques used.
-
Modalities
can be relaxing and help pain management. Some options
are therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation and
home TENS unit instruction. Advanced muscle
testing with observing a computer can improve Kegel
exercises. It is similar to watching a heart monitor,
and women who chose this usually find it very helpful.
-
Therapeutic
exercise programs for home often include gym balls
for calming muscle groups, gentle stretches and strengthening.
Core work coordinates your abdominal, spine and pelvic
support muscles. Posture and “body mechanics” instruction
can help you avoid re-injury.
