Passages Physical Therapy participates in Anthem, BlueCross
BlueShield, Southern Health, Optima, and Community Health Insurances. Medicare
and Tricare are accepted, and all insurances can be billed. Please
call to check about other insurance participation which may have
been added. Co-payments and deductibles depend on the specifics
of your plan. Some credit cards accepted.
Physical therapy in Virginia requires prescription/ referral
by an MD, DO, DC, or NP. An initial visit is sometimes possible
before seeing your primary care provider. This is for limited
situations and most insurance requires the medical prescription
for coverage.
We can help you find out about your physical therapy benefits,
and can assist with authorizations for service. Coverage for
PT visits usually depends on the results of the initial evaluation. This
is often more important than asking your insurance if specific
diagnosis codes related to pain are approved, since therapy is
based on musculoskeletal, soft tissue, and neurological findings.
Wellness Education and Workshops
Basic informational and prevention programs are not covered by
insurance, and do not require medical prescription. It is always
recommended to consult with your medical provider about symptoms
you are having.
